5G. What should we expect?

Imagine being able to download your favorite movie onto your phone in a matter of seconds. Well, you don’t have to imagine it anymore, thanks to the rollout of 5G. The latest generation of cellular technology, 5G, is set to begin rolling out in several American cities by the end of 2018. Wireless cellular technology has evolved rapidly over the past 37 years. With newer generations of cellular technology came mobile access to the Internet and increased storage capacity. As a result, every age of cellular technology has brought both improvements and drawbacks.

To understand what’s to be expected with the new 5G technology, one should first look back at the advantages and disadvantages of the previous generations of cellular technology.

2G:

2G was launched in 1991. 2G (second generation) revolutionized cellular technology, providing a more efficient system with added benefits such as text messages and picture messages. Unlike 1G, which relied on analog telecommunication, 2g introduces digital telecommunication. Digital has a much lower radio frequency than analog, making calls easier to understand, as there was less static picked up during a call. Lower radio frequencies also made 2G cheaper than its predecessor.

However, 2G had its limitations, including weak signal transitions in areas without network coverage. Dropped calls were also more frequent on digital signals.

3G:

3G brought cellphone users better access to the Internet and other media services. What sold users on 3G was its high bandwidth (a more extensive range of frequencies within a given band). Users could access the Internet and their favorite websites just as quickly on their phones as on their desktops. However, 3G was expensive. People often had to buy new phones or other costly assorted attachments to make their old phone 3G-compatible.

4G:

4G improved upon 3G’s multimedia features. 3G downloaded content more quickly, had a higher bandwidth than 3G, and was ultimately much faster than 3G. But like 3G, users often had to buy new phones that were 4G compatible. The speed of the digital frequencies was also affected by the number of people using it, meaning downloading and Internet speeds often slowed when more people used 4G.

5G:

The 5G network will provide even more significant data transmission speeds than its predecessor, 4G. 5G is also expected to be much faster than 4G, being able to receive signals almost instantaneously. As a result, 5G should allow more users to utilize its digital frequencies without slowing down.

How E-shops have Affected Traditional Marketing

It’s the end of the month. Payday! And this month you got a promotion. So, what do you do with your paycheck? Of course, you will put most of it in savings, but you also deserve a treat. And there is a new makeup pallet that you have had your eye on for a while now. Ever since that Instagram influencer posted a picture of them with it on their page, you have seen it everywhere. So, what do you do? You put on your most comfortable pair of sweatpants, curl into bed, and you buy that pallet. And your new makeup will arrive at your doorstep in the next 3 to 4 business days. New eyeshadow, no sweat needed. With the advent of the internet, computers, and mobile devices, a new way to market emerged. Gone are the days where your best option was word of mouth. Suddenly retailers could reach millions of potential customers with a click of a button. E-shops such as Amazon, iTunes, eBay, etc., are multi-billion-dollar enterprises. And this has completely changed the way people do marketing.
In 1915 an ad was placed in a newspaper advertising the “Lash-Brow-Ine,” a product that promised to give its users lushes lashes and beautifully defined eyebrows. The “Lash-Brow-Ine” would come to be known as Mascara, and the company that advertised it would grow to become Maybelline, one of the largest makeup brands in the world. For over 100 years, Maybelline has successfully promoted its products to young women using traditional marketing tactics. They advertised in newspapers, on billboards, on the radio, and in television commercials. They hoped that potential customers would read, hear, or see them, buy their products, and tell their friends about them. But with the advent of the internet, the channels available to market products have expanded exponentially and have allowed for much more successful marketing campaigns. Maybelline and other makeup brands now utilize the influence of “makeup gurus,” online influencers specializing in makeup artistry, to curry interest in their products. Makeup gurus provide a better avenue for advertisement than commercials and magazine ads. After all, a makeup guru can demonstrate how the product works in a video to their fans and give them genuine insight because they constantly connect with the influence. In addition, makeup gurus can engage their audience much more intimately than a commercial because the nature of social media allows users to connect to their favorite influencers easily.
Social media allows advertisers to become more familiar with their potential customers because social media users post what they like on their page. As a result, companies can create more targeted and effective advertising utilizing the data they acquire about people through social media. This means a higher likelihood that those receiving advertisements will purchase the products, increasing a company’s overall sales.

How Amazon Conquered the E-Shop Battle

It’s late November. The holiday season is in full swing. Holidays mean shopping. And shopping means stress. Large crowds, screaming children, pushing, and shoving to get the last flat screen tv. But through the growing fog of your shopping-educed anxiety is a light. It is Amazon.
Amazon is the largest online retailer in the world. With Amazon, all your shopping can be done from the comfort of your bed. But, of course, Amazon is not the only online retailer. Most businesses in the 21st century have online retail features to broaden their customer base and maximize their sales. But Amazon is the most successful.
In the early 1990s, computer technology had become more practical and affordable for the average person to own and increasing amounts of With the introduction of the home computer and the Internet came to a brand-new marketplace. Businesses around the globe began to create internet domains and selling their products online. Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos started his company in 1995 and initially designed its site as an online book retailer. Shortly after its creation, Amazon sold books to people in all 50 states and people in over 40 different countries. Amazon was not the only big-name online retailer to come out of the 1990s. eBay, another online retailer, had become a big thanks to its auction-style selling. Amazon tried to adopt this style and failed. But Amazon survived the 90’s to become the successful company it is today because they never hesitated to take risks and innovate. Amazon went from selling books to selling pretty much everything! And Amazon’s stellar customer service helped to rocket Amazon to the top.
One of the innovations that have led to Amazon’s massive customer base is the clever ways they provide quality customer services. For example, Amazon invented online tools that allow customers to track the status of their package from purchase to the moment it shows up at their doorstep. In addition, with Amazon Prime, many packages can be delivered to customers the same day as their purchase. Amazon has also simplified the return and exchange process, making it easy for the customers to get their correct packages and get them as fast as possible.
Amazon has also made it its mission to connect with its customers online as much as possible. As a result, Amazon has a large social media presence. One can contact Amazon through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc., and they will get a swift response with helpful tools to solve their problem.
Amazon helped revolutionize the holiday shopping season by offering customers the chance to purchase discounted products online, eliminating the need to go to crowded malls and fight with other people to get a deal. Amazon first began advertising its holiday sales on social media in 2008 ahead of most other online retailers; they also provided one of the most extensive assortments of products one could buy. Now shoppers could buy their electronics, clothes, books, and even a boat, all at the exact location with a guarantee that their purchase will arrive at their home on time, and if not, the problem will be resolved quickly.

How Apple Became a Technological Mogul

Apple was founded in the spring of 1976. Since then, it has grown into a multi-billion-dollar corporation that has cornered the market on computers, cell phones, tablets, etc. When you think of smartphones, you think of Apple. But how did a company that started in the garage of a college drop-out become so successful?

Apple made computer technology better.

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak did not invent the computer; They took the computer and made it better. Before Apple computers, many computers were large and bulky, their hard drives took up entire rooms, and the computer monitor was small and hard to see. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak realized that if they increased the size of the monitor and decreased the size of the hard drive, and made it internal, they could make the computer more popular amongst the general public. Since its foundation, Apple has continued to improve on existing technology.
IBM invented the smartphone in the early 1990s, and for many potential customers, the phone seemed inconvenient and unattractive. So Apple took the smartphone and made it sleeker; it could fit in your pocket, the screen was in full color; In short, it looked fantastic!
Apple also made a product that was exclusive and well-made. Many Apple products can run up to $800-$1000 apiece. But with that price comes incredible features, an excellent product that integrates seamlessly with their other products. You could write a note on your iPhone, and it will appear on your MacBook and your Apple Watch. All of your devices are synced. When you buy an Apple product, you become part of the Apple family. And that includes perks like the Genius Bar. The Genius Bar is a tech team in the Apple stores specializing in supporting Apple users with their devices.
Apple is not just a product; it is a brand, a lifestyle. In 1984, Apple released an ad during the Super Bowl. The ad, designed at a shot at IBM, posits Apple products as disruptors to old, outdated computers. In the ending sequence, text crawls across the screen, reading, “On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you’ll see why 1984 won’t be like ‘1984.” The text refers to the classic novel 1984, a story about humanity being controlled by a tyrannical government. In the ad, a young woman smashes the old technology and frees humanity from its grips. The 1984 Apple commercial is one of the most famous commercials to have ever been produced because it was youthful, edgy, and controversial. Presently, Apple has successfully marketed its new iPhones with a successful campaign that actively involved its user base. iPhone users were encouraged to take photos with their new iPhones. These photos were worldwide on billboards and in commercials. The images taken with the iPhones were stunning and rivaled photos taken by professional cameras such as the Cannon. With Apple, you can now take professional, high-quality photos with just your phone. Apple has built itself as the disruptor to the old, often being the first to offer more user-friendly features from built-in keyboards to touch screens and automatic synchronization of its products.
